Appearance

• Foliage: The leaves grow in a flat, star-shaped rosette, giving them their common name. The leaves are thick, succulent, and often have wavy or toothed margins.
• Color: Species and cultivars of Cryptanthus exhibit a wide range of vibrant foliage colors, including shades of green, red, pink, purple, and brown. The leaves can be solid, striped, or spotted.
• Flowers: Cryptanthus produce small white or pink flowers that appear in the center of the rosette. The plant typically blooms only once in its life.
• Size: Most varieties are relatively small, growing to a height and width of less than a foot. 

Care & Tips

• Light: Earth Stars thrive in bright, indirect light. Too much direct sun can scorch the leaves, while too little will cause the vibrant colors to fade.
• Soil: They require a well-draining, humus-rich potting mix. A substrate formulated for bromeliads or succulents is ideal.
