Araucaria / Christmas Tree commonly known as the Norfolk Island Pine, is a slow-growing evergreen that adds a touch of architectural elegance to homes. While it resembles a pine, it is actually a tropical plant that can live for decades (or even centuries) with the right care.

Key Benefits

·         Air Purification: It naturally filters indoor air by absorbing common pollutants and releasing fresh oxygen.

·         Aesthetic Versatility: With its symmetrical, tiered branches, it serves as a stunning year-round ornamental piece and a popular living Christmas tree.

·         Stress Reduction: The presence of greenery in a room is linked to reduced stress levels and improved focus and productivity.

·         Vertical Growth: Unlike many bushy houseplants, it grows tall rather than wide, making it ideal for filling narrow spaces or corners.

Care Guide

1.    Light: Place it in a spot with bright, indirect sunlight. It can tolerate some direct morning sun, but avoid harsh midday rays which can bleach the needles. Rotate the pot weekly to ensure even, symmetrical growth.

2.    Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist but never waterlogged. Water when the top inch of soil feels dry. Avoid letting the soil dry out completely, as this causes brittle, grey needles.

3.    Humidity: As a tropical native, it loves high humidity (50–55%+). Use a fine-mist humidifier or place the pot on a pebble tray with water to prevent the branch tips from turning brown.

4.    Temperature: It prefers a range between 18°C and 24°C (65°F–75°F). Keep it away from cold drafts, air conditioning vents, or direct heat sources like radiators.

5.    Soil & Fertilizer: Use a well-draining, slightly acidic potting mix (pH 4.5–5.5). Feed with a diluted balanced fertilizer every 4–6 weeks during the spring and summer.

6. Maintenance: Pruning is rarely needed. Only remove dead or yellowing lower branches. Never "top" the tree (cut the main upper tip), as this permanently stops its upward growth and ruins its shape.
